A New Day. A NeWay.

Relief flights to Kathmandu in Nepal continue

Relief flights Kathmandu

This week NeWay Logistics and Tristar Air Cargo are managing and operating more relief flights to Kathmandu as the demand for relief/humanitarian aid cargo is ongoing.

After another strong earthquake in the Nepal region the attempt to get the situation under control is not getting any easier.

This week another Airbus A300B4-200F was sent from Sharjah to Kathmandu on charter basis for USAID, transporting plastic sheeting to build more temporary shelter for the people in Kathmandu and other parts of Nepal.

The recent flights are very challenging due to extreme weather conditions and limited support of ground staff at Kathmandu airport.

The latest earthquake resulted in some airport staff not being able to reach the airport for work.

As a result of this, the pilots and crew of the Airbus A300B4-200F helped unloading the aircraft in order to reduce the ground time in Kathmandu.

More flights with this aircraft are being operated this week: Dubai World Central (DWC) via Indira Ghandi International Airport in Dehli (DEL) to Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal (KTM).

Then the aircraft will operate several consecutive flights from Delhi to Kathmandu before positioning to Lahore (LHE) in Pakistan in order to start operating from there into Kathmandu.

NeWay Logistics is the appointed Charter GSA for Tristar and their Airbus A300B4-200F.

The aircraft is ideal for the relief flights to Nepal as it currently is one of the few wide body freighters able to operate into Kathmandu and it can handle volumetric cargo with a payload of up to 39 tons.
