Formula E DHL Logistics

18. February 2015 – The Formula E is the new worldwide racing series for electric cars and NeWay Logistics, on behalf of the DHL Motorsport Division, is part of the air cargo logistics.

The series – officially called the FIA Formula E Championship – is the highest class of competition for one-make, single-seater, electrically powered racing cars. The ePrix races are held in nine cities across the world.

The season 2014/15 is in full swing, and after the inaugural race in Beijing on 13 September 2014, the impressive races in Putrajaya in Malaysia, Punta del Este in Uruguay and Buenos Aires in Argentina followed.

The next races are: Miami in the USA on March 14, Long Beach in the USA on April 4, Monte Carlo in Monaco on May 9, Berlin in Germany on May 23, Moscow in Russia on June 6 and London in the United Kingdom on June 27 (final race).

There are 10 teams taking part with 20 drivers using 40 cars (each team includes 2 drivers and 4 cars). Racing circuits are located in city centers around the world, the tracks are between 2 to 3.4 km long. Cars accelerate from 0–100 km/h in 3 seconds, with a maximum speed of 225 km/h.

The pit stops involve a change of car: when the battery power runs low a driver makes a timed pit stop and switches into a new fully charged car.The races are approximately 45 minutes in length.

The 10 Formula E teams have their 40 Formula E cars, 40 sensitive lithium-ion batteries and all their equipment transported by DHL, the official logistics partner of the series.

NeWay Logistics is part of the logistics team of DHL for the Formula E. One of the most complex air cargo charters this season was from Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia to Montevideo in Uruguay.

NeWay Logistics operated two Boeing B747-400F carrying over 100 000 kilogram each of racing cars and equipment. The flight needed two fuel stops en-route in order to reach its destination.
